Nutrition

Good nutrition is a cornerstone of good health. However, in our fast-paced society, it can sometimes be difficult to eat wholesome, well-balanced food with a wide variety of ingredients. Instead, convenience and commerce have come to dominate our eating habits with sugar, fat, and salt increasingly hard to avoid if we don't cook all our meals at home from fresh. This has an impact on health and has also led to a growing concern about rising weight problems. In addition, the nutrient content in our fresh foods has also been falling due to modern intensive farming.

In order to supplement the modern diet Nikken offers a range of core nutritional essentials and targeted supplements based on concentrated whole foods that help to provide the essential nutritional support which our bodies need.

The Kenko Light

Full-Spectrum Light Technology approximates sunlight and is used to supplant conventional artificial lighting, which can provide only a partial and uneven portion of the normal spectrum of light waves. Research suggests that exposure to full-spectrum light may be effective in helping maintain natural circadian rhythms, the cycle of sleeping and waking. Other benefits include a reduction in glare and flicker effect as well as decreased energy requirements.

An increasing number of people live in areas with unhealthy levels of air pollution, and indoor pollution is said to be worse than outdoor air, with around 90% of most people's time now being spent indoors. The filtration systems in Air Wellness Technology are designed to reduce the contaminants identified as being common irritants in the enclosed spaces created by modern structures and contemporary levels of pollutants. Filtration of indoor air has been shown to be effective in relieving or preventing a variety of respiratory discomforts such as asthma, hayfever and pet allergies.

The dust and particles in our homes are a constant stress on the body. Ions are charged atoms or molecules, and negative ions attach themselves to airborne particles to remove them from the air. They are found in abundance in natural settings - you may notice that a walk through a forest or by a mountain stream feels soothing and relaxing. The Japense call this "shinrinyoku" or "forest air breathing" . The Nikken Air Filters are unique in that they produce negative ions without creating ozone.

The KenkoAir® Purifier contains a technologically advanced, three-level, filtration system which incorporates: a pre-filter that acts as a physical barrier or trap to remove large particles such as pet hair and dust; an activated carbon adsorption filter which removes airborne gas and solution molecules; and a final stage advanced medical-grade ULPA (ultra-lowpenetration air) layer which helps to remove ultra-fine particles. Water - Probably the easiest way to immediately improve your health

Water is vital to supporting every bodily function: digestion and nutrient absorption, proper circulation, removal of toxins and more. Ensuring an adequate supply of good water is thus essential.

Source water for municipal supplies may present significant amounts of pollutants. Chlorine or ozone added to combat these dangers, are themselves toxic. Reducing the amount of both the contaminants and chlorine can result in water that offers the potential for better health.

"Pi" water was originally discovered by Japanese scientists in the 1970s. Observation had suggested that the water from an isolated hillside stream had a remarkable effect on the plant life in the area. The scientists examined the environment and found that it contained an unusual collection of topographical features. The surrounding hills contained magnetite and calcium. The watercourse flowed over silicates, the material that forms natural crystal. The water from it was found to have an atypical combination of minerals, and was naturally alkaline. Duplicating these conditions in the laboratory resulted in a form of this pi water. Magnetic technology was added, as a magnetic field assists in conditioning water without adding salt or other chemicals, and the Nikken Pimag® Waterfall Filter was born.

The use of a PiMag® product is significantly more economical than the on-going cost of bottled water — which itself is often nothing more than treated tap water. The environmental cost of bottled water is equally formidable. A mountain of discarded, non-biodegradable containers is a potential ecological disaster. These plastics may pose a health risk in more ways than their harm to the environment. Certain chemicals in the plastic containers are known to leach into the water, especially if the bottles are stored for any appreciable length of time. On consuming this water, these chemicals may be absorbed and retained in body tissue. The Nikken Waterfall also makes use of all the tap water in comparison to some other filter systems that can waste up to 90% of the pre-filtered water.

Sleep - probably the most important factor affecting our health

According to medical research quality sleep may be the single most important factor in maintaining long-term health. However we so often neglect this vital aspect of our busy lives and end up "burning the candle at both ends".
